I decided to stain my old dresser that I've had for years. It was a golden wood color and it did not go well with my room decor. I was conflicted as to whether I should paint or stain. When doing research, chalk paint came up many times. Chalk paint is great because sanding isn't required and it gives the furniture an antique weathered look. However, I was concerned that it would look to weathered and Chalk paint is known for chipping and may need to be waxed often. Staining was my next choice beacuse the color absorbs into the furniture leaving a more natural finish. The down side is that extensive sanding is required.
